Rio de JaneiroWe all started before it was light in high spirits; but 15 miles of heavy sand before we got our breakfast at Addea de St Pedronearly destroyed the whole chivalrous party. After another long ride we arrived at our sleeping place, Campos Novos. It was a very pleasant cool evening. Thermom. on the turf 74°: I went out collecting & found some fresh water shells.
