New Zealand
During the night the Ship stood off & on under easy sail; in the morning it was found that a current had carried her 20 miles to Leeward of the Bay of Islands. — The country is irregular in form & hilly but not high; the whole is scattered over with wood. — The coast in parts is formed by high reddish cliffs more or less broken down. — We may compare this coast to that of East T. del Fuego, Chiloe, or the Indian territory South of Concepcion, or I do not doubt to a score of other places, where no very marked feature occurs.
